    Something To Think About ...

I know it's not nice to think about, but we're all going to leave this world eventually.

I have just registered for the Australian Organ Donation Register and thought I'd put this information out there in case anyone else is considering it.

Obviously it's a very personal choice, but I like the idea of being able to help others when it's my time to go.

There is some general information about the service here:

Australian Organ Donor Register - Medicare Australia

And the registration form is here:

I have one of those forms floating around ... somewhere ... Really must fill it in. It's not enough anymore to just have it listed on your driver's license.

And milkat, having it on your license dosnt mean shit. I registered about 12 months ago Kelly! I renewed my license and they left it off. So i rang up and they said just because it is ob your license dosnt mean your are an organ donor. To be one legally you have to register.

    Well done kelly!

On a another not i do try and give blood, but i get turned away everytime. Im to thin and dont weight enough for the amount of blood they take. WTF what do they think i will do, drop dead?

I have the same problem with blood donation Jo - and I'm certainly not underweight! For some reason my iron levels are always too low when they do the fingerprick test, yet when I visit my doctor he tells me my iron levels are fine.

I am a very strong believer in organ donation.

Also if you registered along time ago you may no longer be registered anymore because when they changed the system from state to national years ago they "lost" many people. I only found out that I was no longer registered when I tried to change my name last year. I was so, not sure I angry I'd the right word, angry with them. Why wouldn't they make that known to more people so that we could re register??
